Former Prime Minister and current opposition politician Giorgi Gakharia has been summoned by the temporary investigative commission of the Georgian Parliament. According to the “Gakharia for Georgia” party, the summons states that he has been called in connection with the investigation of the events of June 20, 2019.

“Mr. Giorgi Gakharia has been invited to the session, and not only him,” said the commission's chairperson, Tea Tsulukiani, during the April 10 meeting.

She explained that “a number of politicians who at the time harmed the country and continue to do so from abroad” had also been invited — although she did not name the other summoned politicians.

According to Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the former prime minister’s party, Giorgi Gakharia is not currently in Georgia, although his parents received a notification that he had been summoned to the commission’s session.
