“Transkam” — the highway connecting Tsikhvali with Russia — has been closed due to heavy snowfall, the Res agency reports.
Currently, snow continues to fall, preventing the relevant services from starting road-clearing work.
“In connection with deteriorating weather, snowfall, the threat of avalanches, and in order to ensure safety, ‘Transkam’ is closed to all types of vehicles from January 9 until further notice,” the so-called Tsikhvali Emergency Service reported.
“Transkam” is the only road connecting the so-called South Ossetia with Russia.
