Officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a citizen identified as A.M., born in 1990, on drug-related charges as a result of operational and investigative actions, according to a statement by the Ministry.
According to the ministry, the investigation established that the suspect had been illegally cultivating a narcotic plant in a rented house near Lake Bazaleti.
Law enforcement officers seized 136 cannabis plants as material evidence from specially equipped greenhouses set up by A.M.
The investigation is being conducted under Article 265 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which pertains to the illegal cultivation of a narcotic plant in especially large quantities.
For reference: this crime is punishable by up to 12 years of imprisonment.
